High Meadows is an International Baccalaureate World School, inspiring children for over 30 years to think critically, learn creatively, act globally and live compassionately. In 2005, grades 2-3 at High Meadows were given an assignment which resulted in parent Kathy Shoji (top row)  helping her daughter’s class get a Peace Pole – planted in Spring 2006. Each child placed their colored hand print on the Pole. In 2007,

Dr. Peter van den Dungan (top row) from the Peace Studies program  at Bradford University in England, came to visit Atlanta to meet High Meadows youth, and dialogued with them about their motivations for doing the Peace Pole. (l-r) Williams Fox, Akshay Bapat, Arman Spinola-Khazami, Zach Ciampa, Jake Parker, Mackenzie Hawkins, Erin Rawls, Taylor Moore, Isabel Ott, Jeri Brand, Annie Brown, Katarina Morris. (bottom row) Mattie Worsham, Reagan Olson, Katie Carithers, Lillian Shoji, Laura Kemp, Austin Lambert, Gared Colton.
