The Cultural Arts Council was chosen for the planting of the Peace Pole because the children of Georgia displayed their Masks for one month at the Art Center in 1989. They performed several times, sharing the music, dance, and customs of their Georgian traditions.
The Douglasville students were very impressed by the flare and confidence of their fellow classmates from Tibilisi. The Arts are considered very important in the Georgian Culture. Our students got to see first hand how many languages, instruments and dances the students of the Republic of Georgia could do. It was an opportunity to share how the Arts can be an enhancement to the education of students.
